General

We offer an active, practical and flexible alternative to traditional language learning. We call it The Excedo Method, a learner-centred, high-tech approach, built around Active Learning. In order for you to cope with international business communications and feel comfortable dealing with different cultures, you need to actively practice and interact with others. Our method pushes you and inspires you to stretch the limits of your success, all whilst supporting you along every step of the way.

During this course you will interact with other learners who are just like you; aspiring business people who want to improve their English communication skills and help their companies achieve their global business objectives!

During Collaborate activities we will connect you with another learner who is working on the same module as you, so that you can practise your English communication skills together. Your learner partner will be chosen at random. You will see their avatar and their display name only.

During Deliver sessions you will have the opportunity to demonstrate what you have learned in each module by taking part in a virtual class with a Language Coach and other learners. Our Language Coaches are qualified and experienced teachers and include both native and non-native speakers. The Language Coaches used in the Business Skills modules all have business experience.

Learning

Yes! The session is structured in a way that ensures you will have time to show what you have learned.

The Language Coach will guide you.

Wherever possible we try to ensure that there are between 2 and 3 other learners in the same session as you.

This is so that you have the opportunity to interact and use the language you have learned during the module.

For each Deliver session you might have a different Language Coach, so that you can experience a wide range of accents and nationalities.

At the moment, in the current version of Excedo, you cannot contact Language Coaches outside of your Deliver session. However, if you have any questions you can contact Riku. He will be able to help you.

Yes, if you want to review what you have learned in Explore you can always scroll back from the launcher to the history of your activities and try them again to improve your knowledge.

Please note that your score will not improve.

The goal of Collaborate is to practice what you have learned before you attend the Deliver session with your Language Coach.

If your partner does not give enough feedback, you can always ask questions to encourage them to say a little more. Your Learning Counsellor will also encourage your partner to be more active.

One of the most effective ways to learn a language is to practice the key concepts you have learned with another learner. This helps you acquire real communication skills and will ensure you are prepared for Collaborate and Deliver session.

No problem. You just need to practice a little more! We’ll give you a Practice lesson, then you can try your Checkpoint again.

In the Business Skills Modules, you will learn how to combine the language skills you’ve learned throughout each course to achieve real business impact.

The activities in Explore are self-study. You do these activities on your own. In Collaborate you will interact with another learner, putting into practice what you have learned in Explore.

Schedule

Riku frequently checks for responsiveness, so if your partner doesn’t reply promptly Riku will help you.

A course should take on average 10 hours to complete; There are 4 modules in each course and each module is a total of around 2.5 hours of learning. You can organize your own time and learn when it is most convenient for you, but we recommend you devote 20 to 30 minutes each day and complete one module per week.

If you can’t attend your Deliver session it is very important that you let Riku know, so that he can you help you to schedule a new one. If you know you will not be able to attend your session, please contact Riku as soon as possible.

There is a qualified Language Coach (teacher) for every Deliver session. All our Language Coaches are qualified; experienced online teachers. Our team of Language Coaches have a range of business and professional experience. Some of the Language Coaches are native English speakers, and some are from countries all over the world.

Technical

It’s important to have the latest versions of the Excedo app to avoid technical problems and to ensure the best performance.

We highly recommend you activate auto updates on your device.

This could be associated with a connectivity problem or a phone memory issue. Close your Excedo application, start it again and access the lesson again.

If you still have problems, please ask Riku for help. Also, you can contact us by shaking your phone or tapping the Support option in the menu.

If you have finished an activity but you are not directed to the next activity, please ask Riku to help.

Please note that if you have just completed a Deliver session the Language Coach will need to grade you, and this might take up to 12 hours before you can progress.

You can always tell us about the problem by shaking your phone or tapping the support option in the menu.

Please check the following settings:

  • Make sure you have the latest Excedo version
  • Make sure that Excedo has access to your camera and microphone.
  • Make sure your mobile device isn’t in silent mode.

If that doesn’t work, please:

  • Turn off your smartphone for at least 30 seconds, then restart it
